Integrating Technology at GEMS RDS

This excerpt is an excellent overview of Apple Technology Integration and the use of mobile devices at GEMS Royal Dubai School.  It highlights personalised independent learning, the world as the classroom as well the use of cutting edge technology.  It is also a powerful example of the integration of technology into the Arabic language and Islamic studies.

Whilst the vision for this comes from the Director of ICT and Innovation, Mr Phil Redhead, the setting up, configurations, correct deployment of devices as well as coaching teachers and TA's is the job I do as the Digital Learning Leader.

The full programme aired on the MBC show "Kalam Nawa'aim" episode 398 on April 1 2012.

Accessing Real World Learning at GEMS RDS

Real-world learning. Below is a Skype interview. Year 5 students in Dubai interview Mrs Jean Stone (who now lives in New Zealand) about her experiences as a child living in Biggin Hill, Kent in WWII. For the students, this is a lifetime memory!

Technology provision for students and teachers at GEMS Royal Dubai School from the Early Years to Year 6 is an integral part of the learning programme giving access to information, learning resources as well as connecting with experts.

Grade 3: Video Game Soundtrack using Garageband

Garageband is on all the iMacs at RDS. We have had some great work produced by children this year. Year 3 worked on Garageband for the first time this term. They only had 45 mins and had to add a soundtrack to a 40-second video game trailer. Quite a tall order for the first time. Here's is the soundtrack that Amaar created.

Here is the soundtrack created by his friend, Sebastian.
